In January-September 2025, Ukraine increased its imports of hard coal and anthracite by 2.2 times (by 1,760,155 tons) compared to the same period last year, reaching 3,253,620 tons.
According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, $751,081 million worth of coal was imported in the first nine months of this year, which is 2.3 times (by $426,588 million) more than in January-September 2024.

The United States imported $308.091 million worth of coal (41.02% share), Australia $233.507 million (31.09%), the Czech Republic $72.3 million (9.63%), and other countries $137.183 million (18.26%).
As reported, Ukraine increased its coal imports in 2024 by 2.7 times (by 1,145,951 thousand tons) compared to 2023, reaching 1,812,592 thousand tons. In monetary terms, $402.219 million worth of coal were imported, 2.2 times higher than the previous year's volume ($185.378 million).
In 2024, Ukraine imported $8.9 billion worth of fuel and energy products, a decrease of $1.47 billion, or 14.2%, compared to 2023. Export revenues almost halved, from $0.39 billion to $0.2 billion.
In 2024, Ukraine imported 7.56 million tons of oil and petroleum products (excluding crude) worth $6.82 billion, a decrease of $1.01 billion, or 12.9%, compared to 2023. The main suppliers were Greece (19.3%), Poland (13.1%), Lithuania (10.0%), and Turkey (8.8%). India's share declined sharply: in 2024, it amounted to only 1.4%, compared to 13.0% in 2023.
Ukraine imported 0.98 million tons of petroleum gases, costing $0.67 billion. This is almost three times less than the $1.9 billion spent in 2023. The main suppliers in 2024 included Poland (17.4%), Algeria (15.1%), and Lithuania (13.2%). The other 35 countries combined contributed shares of no more than 8.5% each. In 2023, 53.1% of gas came from three countries: Slovakia, Poland, and Switzerland.
The largest increase compared to 2023 was recorded in electricity imports. While Ukraine imported 806,400 MWh worth $154.7 million in 2023, expenditure in 2024 more than quadrupled to $669.4 million for 4,436,600 MWh.
