Ukraine is among the top three countries demonstrating rapid growth in blueberry exports in the world. Over the past five years, Ukraine has been increasing export volumes by 21% annually, which is approximately 530 tons per year.

In particular, in 2022, blueberry exports increased by 1.1 thousand tons, and in 2023 - by 940 tons, despite military action and the Russian invasion.

According to FAO economist Andriy Yarmak, the global blueberry market has significant potential for further growth. The demand for healthy berries continues to grow, which allows increasing its production and exports even in difficult global economic conditions.
Georgia became the leader of the rating, having increased its blueberry exports by 55% annually over the past five years, which allowed the country to debut in the top 20 world exporters of this berry in 2023. Zimbabwe took second place, also demonstrating impressive results - 48% growth in blueberry exports annually.
Also among the top ten largest exporters of fresh blueberries, the leaders in terms of growth rates were Serbia, Mexico and Morocco.
Analysts note that Peru remains the world leader in exports by a wide margin from its competitors. EastFruit analysts estimated Peru's share in the net (excluding re-export) international trade in fresh pigeons in 2019-2023 at 30-32%.

We will add that in 2023, Ukraine set a historical record for blueberry exports, having supplied just over 4 thousand tons of this blue berry in fresh form to foreign markets for the first time.

Also significantly - by 37%, the export of Ukrainian blueberries to the Netherlands increased, more than 4 times - to Spain and a number of other EU countries. In addition, the export of blueberries from Ukraine to the UK, which was one of the four main sales markets, increased by 11%.
