In the EU, the gas crisis will accelerate the transition to clean energy
The global gas crisis must accelerate the transition to clean energy.

This opinion was expressed by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at the World Economic Forum in Davos, reports greendeal.org.ua.

"Today's gas crisis should accelerate the transition to clean energy and provide the necessary impetus for further integration of our energy market," she said. "But the most important thing is that we have to carefully manage the energy transition."

Investors must believe that the EU will follow the planned course, despite obstacles along the way, said the head of the European Commission. "We return to the key issue of trust," she said. "People need to trust that the energy transition will support the most vulnerable, businesses need to trust that the energy transition will improve their competitiveness."

According to Ursula von der Leyen, as it responds to the gas crisis, the EU will focus on supporting the most vulnerable citizens, speeding up the energy transition and ensuring reliable suppliers.

"In the world economy, a linear transition from a system based on fossil fuels to a system based on clean energy sources is impossible," she said. "We have to admit it openly, but we understand our direction as well as our commitments."
