In Cherkasy, wood and vegetable waste began to be processed into fuel for boiler houses
The project is implemented by the utility company "Ecology", reports ecopolitic.com.ua.
"More than 25,000 warehouses of wood waste have accumulated in the city: branches, pruning trees from the city streets, territories of schools and preschools, utilities," said Volodymyr Husachenko, head of the ecology department of the housing and communal services department. "Now we are processing it into wood chips, which we will then use to produce heat and electricity - special equipment allows us to grind 150 meters per hour."
The project will ensure the ecological utilization of some types of waste and the production of alternative fuels. Currently, public utilities are processing wood for fuel, which is then sold to the city of Smila.
According to the deputy director of KP "Ecology" Yuri Efremov, the company did not take a single penny from the city budget to implement a project that saves the city from garbage.
According to Deputy Mayor Ruslan Tkachenko, the project will help reduce the cost of one gigacalorie of heat for the population. "We have analyzed modern methodologies and projects implemented in different countries of the world and, taking into account the raw material base, we have chosen two areas of waste recycling: heat and electricity production," he said. to help heat companies switch to environmentally friendly fuels.
