The EU expects Ukraine to implement energy reforms in line with international commitments

The European Union expects Ukraine to implement the planned energy reforms in accordance with international documents.

This was emphasized by EU Commissioner Kadri Simson at a meeting with Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, expro.com.ua reports.

Our country must fulfill the obligations set out in the Energy Community Treaty and the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

The parties reaffirmed the energy strategic partnership between Ukraine and the EU and discussed the implementation of the Implementation Plan of the Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Strategic Partnership between Ukraine and the EU and Annex XXVII to the Association Agreement.

Herman Galushchenko noted that the integration of the United Energy System of Ukraine into ENTSO-E is an important common strategic goal. "Synchronization will increase the degree of transparency and efficiency of electricity trade with EU countries," he said.

From the Ukrainian side, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov and Adviser to the Ministry of Energy Olena Zerkal.

In accordance with Annex XXVII, Ukraine has undertaken to implement the provisions of EU norms in the framework of the Energy Community Treaty and the Association Agreement with the EU.
