Small solar power plants will be installed on the roofs of schools, kindergartens and hospitals in the communities of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts located near entry-exit checkpoints.
The draft charitable program to increase energy security in the controlled territories was supported by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on July 15, vchaspik.ua reports.
"We are talking about the possibility of implementing a social charity program for the installation of small solar power plants on the roofs of buildings and structures, as well as installation on the basis of photovoltaic modules for lighting pedestrian crossings and common areas in communities located on the line of contact," wrote a Cabinet spokesman. To the Verkhovna Rada Vasyl Mokan on his Facebook page - Charitable funds totaling up to UAH 100 million will be allocated to the owners of these facilities and structures of Naftogaz Ukrainy JSC or its affiliated enterprises.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal hopes that Naftogaz Ukrainy will join the financing of the program to increase the energy security of social infrastructure in the controlled territories of Donbass.
"This is a social and charitable program to increase energy security," said Denis Shmygal at a government meeting. "This program will create small solar power plants in schools, hospitals, kindergartens and other social infrastructure."
Naftogaz Ukrainy will finance the program in the form of a humanitarian action, the Prime Minister hopes, adding that the implementation of such a program will be one of the steps towards the development of the region and the country as a whole.
