Ukraine intends to make the addition of biofuels to gasoline mandatory.
As the People's Deputy from "Servants of the People" Oleg Seminsky reported on the page on Facebook, the corresponding bill is already developed, transfers tsn.ua.
"The document provides for the mandatory addition of liquid biofuels (bioethanol) to all gasolines in Ukraine," he said. "At least 5% of the fuel volume should be the share of bioethanol from July 1, 2021."
The production of bioethanol will contribute to the country's energy independence from imports of petroleum products (including from Russia), reduction of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere, the emergence of a number of manufacturing enterprises and, accordingly, job creation and investment, the deputy said.
"The draft law provides for fuel quality control, as imported fuel is of very poor quality - according to Euro-3 standards, with a significant sulfur content (500 milligrams per kilogram of product), - said Oleg Seminsky. - Meanwhile, Europe has gasoline standards." "Euro-4" sulfur is 10 times less, and according to the standard "Euro-5" - no more than 10 milligrams.
